Though the exotic fragrances within them may have long since evaporated into thin air, the perfume bottles of yesteryear are even more treasured today than they were for their contents in centuries past. Antique perfume bottles have become the object of many collectors, and exquisite examples of these small treasures are found in antique shops around the world.
But because the prices demanded for antique perfume bottles can range from a few, to a few thousand, dollars, the beginning collector should what to look for in a prospective antique perfume bottle purchase to make sure of getting the genuine article.
Before You Get Started
The first rule to building a collection of antique perfume bottles you can enjoy for years is to only collect bottles you really like. Even though an antique perfume bottle may be inexpensive, it’s not going to do a thing for your collection if it’s ugly.
Price and age do not by themselves an eye-catching collection make; so if you have to choose between buying an inexpensive ordinary antique perfume bottle right now or waiting a little longer to buy a more expensive one that absolutely bowls you over, wait a little longer. But never spend money you need for other expenses on an antique perfume bottle just because you think it might be a steal.
Where To Look
Don’t limit your search for antique perfume bottles to antique shops. They can be found at estate and even yard sales, flea markets, thrift stores, and Internet auction sites. If you know what to look for, and the seller doesn’t, you can find some real bargains on antique perfume bottles at yard sales and thrift stores. Buying from Internet auctions can be competitive, because the other bidders will know just as much about the bottle as you do.
What To Look For
Many antique perfume bottles lack the trademark by which collectors are able to identify and value other china, glass, and pottery. So you will have to learn to judge them mot by their makers, but by their unique characteristics. Bottles from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were often of cut glass; those of the Art Deco period of the 1920s were often of hand-painted ceramic in unique designs, or of gold offset with jewels.
Because these ceramic antique perfume bottles were one-of-a-kind, they are highly prized and can cost thousands of dollars, depending on their condition and quality. French antique perfume bottles are often of exquisitely painted enamel with silver or gold stoppers. They too can bring thousand of dollars.
You can learn more about antique perfume bottles, including how to care for them, by performing an Internet search, and looking at examples of some of the miniature masterpieces currently offered for sale.

What are some of the best sweet, floral and fruity perfumes?
What are some of the best sweet smelling perfumes? What do you think of Fantasy or Princess by Vera Wang?
What are some of the best fruity smelling perfumes? How does Paris by Paris Hilton smell to you?
What are some of the best floral fragrances?
I like Fantasy the most because I smell sweet like Cotton Candy and it is strong.
If anyone can answer I thank you.
P.S. Try to name perfumes that are not too expensive since I am limited on cash! I do not spend over 60 bucks.
try blossoming romance spray from victoria's secret (the light pink one with the flower). i think it might be exactly what you are looking for. it's like a cotton candy/flowery scent but a bit more flirty than b&bw's sweet pea, if you know what i'm talking about. and, i think it's <$10 for a huge bottle! i got 3 after smelling it, lol
What is the longest lasting, best smelling, womens perfume out there?
I have a hard time finding perfume that actually last all day long on my skin. I used to wear Givenchy Indecense and it would last all day long on me and it smelled wonderful but they have since discontinued it and to try and buy it if you can even find it is like spending a fortune. I mostly like Spicy smells so what is the best smelling, long lasting perfume that I can buy that will at least last on me for people to still smell for at least 8 hours.
Try a perfume called POISON..I think it is by DIOR. It is spicy and sexy...

Is there a quantitative difference in the chemical composition between perfume and cologne?
Most of us agree that women wear perfumes and men wear cologne. But what is the difference in composition of the two? Does one differ markedly in chemical composition? And what is the difference in eau de toilette and parfum or parfume?
How would you go about manufacturing cologne or perfume? How would you make scented oils such as patchoulli?
Eau de Cologne is Koelnisches wasser, which is a diluted perfume. Parfum is French. One cannot make patchoulli oil: One must extract it from the source and then blend it with many others.
To know all the technologies by which perfume has been made over the centuries, you must read a novel, "Perfume," by Patrick Susskind. It is available in cheap paperback from amazon.com.
